Τhe Oceanography Center of the University of Cyprus
The Oceanography Center aims to contribute through research in the increase of the scientific knowledge of the EEZ of Cyprus in the Levantine Basin and the Mediterranean.

Mission
The Oceanography Center of the University of Cyprus (OC) began its operation in 2003 as a small research team within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
In October 2010 it was established as the first Research Unit of the School of Pure and Applied Sciences. Its objective is to develop and carry out marine research with a focus on the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The Oceanography Center places priority on promoting research, attracting new research programme funding and developing ideas related to marine science. The Center is open to collaborative research with new or experienced researchers and any organisation involved in marine sciences and the marine environment.
So far, the Oceanography Center has attracted research projects with funding exceeding €6 million.
Currently, and for the past few years, the Center employs approximately 10 special scientists to whom we owe most of its successes. It is worth mentioning that some of our scientists have been working for the Center on a continuous basis for more than 10 years.
