ANDIKAT: Diving routes in marine protected areas of the Eastern Mediterranean – Diving tourism network development

The project aims to develop a network of diving routes as a tool for protecting the marine environment, preserving natural heritage and promoting cultural heritage, raising public awareness about the protection of the marine environment and the sustainable development of tourism, especially diving tourism, enriching and diversifying tourist services offered.

The project foresees the demarcation of at least four protected areas and the designation of diving routes. In Cyprus, artificial reefs and statues will be placed in the Dasoudi beach area. Additionally, for Cyprus, the plan provides for the clean-up, rehabilitation and recording of the ancient port of Amathous in order to designate and promote a diving route.
