Dr. Magdalene Papatheodoulou

Dr. Magdalene Papatheodoulou is a Research Fellow at the Oceanography Centre of the University of Cyprus. She holds a PhD in Evolution from the University of Glasgow, with a research focus on intergenerational effects, ecophysiology, and behaviour. She also obtained an MSci and a BSc (Honours, First Class) in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of Glasgow. Dr. Papatheodoulou is currently completing a second MSc in Occupational Health and Safety at the European University of Cyprus, with a specific emphasis on the marine environment.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Papatheodoulou has contributed to numerous European, international, and governmental research projects and tenders. Her work is supported by extensive field experience, including scientific diving, and participation in field campaigns, research missions, and scientific conferences conducted in Cyprus, Iceland, Scotland, Denmark, Egypt, and Crete.
Her research experience spans a wide range of marine and evolutionary topics, including intergenerational effects, ecophysiology, fishery-induced evolution, benthic and epibenthic communities, sciaphilic communities, invasive species, marine protected areas, artificial reefs, deep-sea ecology and pollution, and the impacts of climate change. Her interdisciplinary background combines laboratory research, field-based investigations, and applied marine science.
