Ester Konstantinou

Ester Konstantinou has been working as a Research Scientist at the Oceanography Centre, University of Cyprus since April 2025.
Her MSc thesis in Global Biodiversity Conservation at the University of Sussex focused on the soundscape of the Sussex coast, examining spatial and temporal variability of acoustic indices in kelp-associated marine ecosystems. She also holds a BSc (Hons) in Zoology from the University of Sheffield. She has hands-on experience in marine biology and ecology, including eDNA and genetic analysis, scientific diving and coral conservation via bio-adhesive testing as part of the Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP) at Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Furthermore, she has experience in seagrass and marine mammal research, as well as supervising multidisciplinary teams at Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation in Greece.
Her research interests encompass marine biodiversity conservation, genetics and eDNA methodologies, coral reef restoration, climate-resilient habitats, invasive species impacts and population dynamics. She has contributed to EU-funded conservation efforts, grant proposals, and international collaborations across Cyprus, Australia, Greece, and the UK.
